Bee Gone!

Do you know that honeybees are very important to our food supply?  Without them, we will be missing a variety of fruits and vegetables in our diet, like apples, blueberries, cherries, watermelons, and broccoli and cucumbers, just to name a few. The bees fly from blossom to blossom carrying pollen which is critical to the farming industry.

Researchers estimate that about one third of the bees in America have disappeared from their hives since last fall and not returning.  They call this phenomenon Colony Collapse Disorder. This is similar to you walking into your classroom one morning to find 80 percent of your classmates missing!  Is that scary or what?  And you don’t know where they’ve gone.  It’s a mystery why the honeybees suddenly vanish, but scientists and beekeepers have teamed up across America to try to make sense of it all.  Good luck to them!  We need those bees.   Buzzzzz.

There are a myriad of possible reasons researchers believe could cause them to disappear.  Here is a coolala site that helps explain this on-going mystery. Click to learn more. click here

Most bees die after they sting someone. So when you see a bee if you don't bother the bee the bee wont sting you. If it does it will die!
